METAMORPHOSES.
Change one given word to another given word by altering one letter at
a time, each alteration making a new word, the number of letters being
always the same, and the letters always in the same order. Example:
Change lamp to fire in 4 moves. LAMP: LAME, FAME, FARE, FIRE. Now you
change COAT to SHOE in 4 words.
BEHEADINGS.
Example: I am a sound. Change my head and I become
a hard substance, solitary, the fruit of a pine, and to sharpen. TONE:
BONE, ALONE, CONE, AND HONE. Now you try one: I am part of a horse.
Change my head and I become a piece of glass, a shady road, a staff,
sensible, to decrease gradually, a feminine name, and an inhabitant

SIGNS OF SPRING.
What is the first flower you see in spring? What are the first plants

A WINDY DAY ACTIVITY.
Fly your kite or windsock. What causes them to fly?
START AN ORANGE PLANT.
Soak seeds overnight in water. Line a shallow dish with small pebbles
& add 1 1/2 inches (3.5 cm) of potting soil. Press seeds into soil
& moisten with water. Cover with a plastic bag & place in a
warm, sunny spot. Seedlings should appear in a week. Keep moist. Transplant
into larger pots when 1” (2.5 cm) tall.
